HAIL! Members Jam With MOTÖRHEAD, Hang Out With METALLICA

June 21, 2010

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser — who is currently involved in the HAIL! project alongside former members of JUDAS PRIEST, SLAYER and MEGADETH — joined MOTÖRHEAD on stage during their June 14, 2010 appearance at the Rock In Rio festival in Madrid, Spain to perform the songs "Going To Brazil" and "Overkill". Also appearing on the bill were HAIL! and METALLICA.

Professionally filmed video footage of Kisser's performance with MOTÖRHEAD can be viewed below.

Commented HAIL!: "What's the best way to end a tour? Jamming with MOTÖRHEAD and being onstage with METALLICA has to rank high.

"After our set [at the Rock In Rio festival in Madrid], we went over to watch MOTÖRHEAD, who crushed the huge mass of people in attendance.

"During 'Going To Brazil', [MOTÖRHEAD guitarist] Phil Campbell motioned for Andreas (who was appropriately wearing his Brazilian soccer jersey) to come up onstage so Phil's tech handed Andreas a guitar and without any preparation or thought, Andreas ran out in front of 80,000-plus people and tore it up!

"The ability to perform unexpectedly on cue like that without any warning whatsoever is simply astonishing.

"Andreas got a second chance when he came back out for their encore of 'Overkill', and once again, he rose to the spotlight.

"To see our buddy jamming with MOTÖRHEAD, and to marvel at the journey that this once-young kid practicing guitar in Brazil to now be onstage playing with MOTÖRHEAD to this many people in Spain made all of us super-proud and judging on the huge smile on Andreas's face, he loved every minute of it even more than we did.

"Thank you Phil and Lemmy and Mikkey, you are all heroes to this culture and our love and respect to you is paramount. Hail! MOTÖRHEAD.

"After the set, we hung with Mikkey and Phil until the METALLICA guys came by, said hello and took some quick pictures before their show.

"We watched the whole show from the stage, either on the side or behind a screen five feet behind Lars.

"Every time [we] see METALLICA [we] get humbly reminded of why they are the biggest band in the world.

"To James, Lars, Kirk, Robert (Cliff and Jason, too),we graciously honor your success and bask in your glory. You truly paved the way.

"Hail! METALLICA."
